Weekend Recap

Rabbit Rabbit
Rabbit Rabbit! Happy October everyone!!

This weekend was one of my beloved three day weekends and I wasn't going to let the incessant rain stand in my way. As you can probably tell from the pictures, the weekend was mostly food themed (as are most of my activities) and I couldn't be happier about it.

Other than the little snag of Oktoberfest being postponed a week -womp womp- because I seemed to be the only one interested in eating and drinking outside in the rain I fit it in lots of other fall goodness.

On the agenda:
  • Discovering the best brunch place ever
  • Fluffernutters!! Union Square hosted their annual "What the Fluff Fest" (Somerville invented Fluff - you're welcome America)
  • Introduced the fam to my favorite Tapas place
  • Had anxiety attacks over the Patriots
  • Cooked a feast all day with my Mama Dukes (roast chicken and homemade apple pie are what dreams are made of)
Now I think I need to reacquaint myself with the gym put on gym clothes and get distracted by TLC this week to work off all the food goodness.

Mamma Mia We Made Pizza!

Big news from Club Belmont! Last night was impromptu pizza party night at my humble abode and nothing caught fire wahoo!

Some people may claim that cooking is not my strong suit but after craving pizza for the past two weeks I finally got myself some Trader Joe's pre-made dough (it's genius I tell you!) and every topping I could think of. We decided on two pizza themes: 1. Mexican 2. everything else and let me tell you what...opening a pizerria may be my next big career move.

After a few missteps involving transferring the very heavy pizza onto the very hot stone I'm proud to say that they both came out amazing and we happily feasted on my porch with as much pizza as we could eat.

This may have to be a monthly event now that I have a 100% success rate (2 out of 2 ain't too shabby in my book)!

Mexican Pizza
(salsa, beef, mexican cheese, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce)

Everything Else
(mushrooms, yellow peppers, tomatoes, artichoke hearts, beef, mozzarella, goat cheese)

My Feast!
Is it dinner time again yet?

Hello stove, let me introduce myself...

As the saga to live up to my New Years resolution (read: early November resolution) to make food for myself that requires me to do more than put it in the microwave for 2 minutes, I decided to make myself Chicken Zucchini Alfredo on Monday. This decision was based on an my strong desire to wear my adorable Anthropologie apron (a gift from my amazing friend Amy), my love of zucchini, and the fact that the Food Network labeled the recipe as “easy”. Although this seemed like something that would be difficult to massacre the idea of making an alfredo sauce from scratch scared me enough to pick up an Amy’s organic frozen dinner as a back up plan. Luckily I can report that Amy’s frozen dinner was not necessary and my dinner turned into a delicious success! Check out my (sometimes less than stellar) food photography:

I would’ve been happy just eating all of these for

dinner once they were all sautéed up.

The most terrifying part of the process…

alfredo sauce (dun dun dunnnn)

Success! It turned out delicious and now I have at least one

go-to dinner recipe in my back pocket if necessary.

Hello adorable apron that makes cooking

just that much more fun!
